The Queensland Government is in a caretaker period until after the state election. We will only make minimal updates to this site until after the election results are declared.

An even better public sector for Queensland

Queensland already has a great public sector with dedicated public servants, but there is always room to improve and deliver an even better public sector for Queensland.

The Queensland Government has invested $18.6 million over 5 years in the Public Sector Commission (PSC) to enable it to:

  • reposition itself as a public service system leader
  • develop and implement a 5-year strategy for the Queensland public sector
  • support the public sector in delivering services to Queenslanders.

Areas of focus for the strategy and implementation plan include:

  1. our workplace — continuing to be an employer of choice
  2. our workforce — identifying the capability and talent needed now and into the future
  3. our work — ensuring a public sector of professionals who act with integrity, are performance focused, serve with empathy, respect and care and represent the community they serve.

Our workplace, our workforce, our work: Delivering better services and outcomes for Queenslanders

Consultation across the public sector, and with industry experts is currently under way.

A draft strategy is expected to be delivered to government by the end of 2023, with implementation to commence in 2024.

This work will contribute to building an even better public sector — one that is trusted and respected by all Queenslanders.
