Source and accuracy of responses
QChat uses the GPT-4 Turbo model, which trained on a large amount of internet data that is not linked to specific Queensland Government datasets, policy or legislation. While it may give relevant information, this is due to the meta prompt guiding its responses within the Queensland Government’s context.
QChat can sometimes produce incorrect responses or make-up information, known as hallucinations. It’s recommended to verify the information and consult an expert for advice specific to your circumstances.

Monitoring and privacy
Your interactions with QChat, including your questions, the responses, and any feedback are recorded to meet recordkeeping guidelines and improve the service. QChat doesn’t use your prompts or uploaded information to retrain its model, ensuring your privacy and security are protected. Each user session is treated as a separate session.
Appropriate use
QChat is intended for information classified as OFFICIAL and SENSITIVE. You are not permitted to upload information classified as PROTECTED or higher to QChat or any other AI chatbot. For details on data classification, refer to the Information security classification framework.

QChat vs other AI platforms
QChat is for Queensland Government employees, designed to support generative AI use while following ICT security policies, records management and retention, and auditing and logging guidelines.
Platforms like ChatGPT are public-facing and open to all users with their own terms of use. Contact your agency’s Chief Information Officer to understand the risks or policies associated with the use of these tools.
Data access and limitations
QChat does not have access to files stored across government agencies such as SharePoint or private drives. It only uses publicly available information from the internet. The platform is kept up to date by adopting the latest language models from Azure OpenAI with each update thoroughly tested before being made available to users.
Onboarding QChat to your agency
The QChat team is working with agency leads to roll out the platform across the Queensland Government.
