For government has transitioned to using the Queensland Government design system. If you have feedback, please use the form at the bottom of this page.

SWE roadmap

This roadmap shows what we're working on now, and what we've got planned next. The purpose is to tell you what’s coming up and help you prepare and plan for those changes. Minor improvements and bug fixes may not always be listed here.

Deciding what is worked on is informed and guided by our community across government and their end users' needs.

Do you have an idea or feature request? Find out how you can join in on the discussion and contribute.

We aim to prioritise our work based on what SWE users need the most. This means things that:

  • are used by the highest number of end users, franchises or services
  • reduce potential impact or harm to end users
  • are affected by any change in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Now

As part of our commitment to delivering an exceptional online customer experience, we're embarking on the transition from SWE to the new Queensland Government Design System (QGDS). We'll be starting with forgov.qld.gov.au.

During the change, we'll still maintain and support the SWE by fixing any critical bugs and addressing any accessibility or security issues.

Why the transition?

The QGDS is being created from a whole-of-government perspective and offers:

  • usability enhancements based on customer feedback, evolving UX best practice, the latest accessibility standards, and a  mobile-first experience
  • a modern interface design that aligns to customer expectations while building consistency and trust across websites and platforms
  • improved performance that leverages technical advancements for faster load times and smoother interactions
  • a wider collaboration and contribution community to help streamline maintenance processes and enable faster iteration and improvement cycles.

We’ve adapted this roadmap process from the UK Government’s Design System under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

What's new

23 Jan 2024: We released v4.4.0

This release included a new tag component and numerous improvements to the topic index and franchise landing page templates. Updates were also made to the table, social media, quick exit, radio, checkbox, and accordion components.
