Module 2: Checkpoint 8—Site map

Conformance: Desirable

Requirements

The site map should, at a minimum, provide links to the main areas of the website.

Benefits of conformance

  • Site maps act as a navigational aid by providing an overview of the site's areas in a single glance.
  • Site maps may improve search engine optimisation of a site by ensuring that all the pages can be found.

Risks of non-conformance

  • Does not provide users with a full overview of the site structure.
  • Does not provide users with key information access points.
